Spinning smiles with our textiles

In this way, we support the Chincha community

December 15, 2011

The commitment assumed by Topitop as a company is to contribute to community development in our country; therefore, we plan a series of training sessions that contribute to the personal development of our people: in this case, women workers from Chincha, a city to the south of Lima, who with some effort, make ends meet for their families.

These women’s homes were devastated and rendered uninhabitable by the earthquake of 2007, and some were widowed, left with sole responsibility for bringing up their families. Faced with such a need, Topitop’s initiative to help the women make and sell purses emerged.

Women participants in the Peru’s national food aid program (PRONAA, based on original name in Spanish), better known as Vaso de Leche  – Glass of Milk –  in Pueblo Nuevo, Chincha, self -manage their income by producing handbags, the raw material of which (denim) is donated by the aforementioned public institution. In addition to handbags, the women also produce other articles such as bath liners, aprons, and more.

On March 28, 2010, the group had their own booth at that year’s Festitop. (Festival of integration made by the company every year.) Their products were well-received by attendees.
